Programs
At My World of Learning, your child will learn and grow in a caring, play-based environment designed to support every stage of development. We are licensed to care for up to 40 children a day, from 18 months to 12 years of age, and currently offer care for children ages 18 months to 5 years.
Each day includes a variety of fun, hands-on activities—such as art, science, and sensory play—planned to encourage creativity, confidence, and skill development. Our educators practice responsive teaching, observing the sparks of curiosity in each child’s play and intentionally adding materials and ideas to deepen their exploration. Outdoor play is also part of the daily routine, with time spent outside in both the morning and afternoon. Inclusion Support Staff are available to ensure all children can fully participate and feel supported.
Our centre is organized into three distinct learning environments: the Flamingo, Chickadee, and Hummingbird classrooms.
· Flamingo & Chickadee Rooms: Offer a nurturing, multi-age setting for 12 children each, ages 18 months to 4 years.
· Hummingbird Room: Provides a similarly supportive and engaging space for 16 children, ages 3 years and up.
Transitions are based on developmental readiness and enrollment flow because we value the individual journey of each student. While some children move into the Hummingbird room when they are older, others may complete their time with us in the Flamingo or Chickadee rooms. We ensure that every child—regardless of their classroom assignment—receives the same high-quality, responsive care and social-emotional support tailored to their specific needs.
Our Professional Staff
The team at My World of Learning is led by our Executive Director and Assistant Executive Director, supported by a Child Care Supervisor and Assistant Supervisor. Our frontline staff includes a team of Early Childhood Educators, an Inclusion Coordinator and Inclusion Support Early Childhood Educator dedicated to supporting diverse learning needs, and a Substitute Educator to ensure consistent care. Rounding out our team is our full-time cook who ensures our children are nourished with healthy meals and snacks.
Family Committee
We encourage all parents and guardians to take part in our Family Committee—your voice matters, and your involvement helps shape your child’s experience at our centre.
Family Committee meetings are open to all families with children enrolled at My World of Learning. You’ll receive at least two weeks’ notice before each meeting, giving you plenty of time to plan to attend. If you’re interested in becoming a committee member, you’re always welcome to reach out to our Executive Director to learn how to join.
The Family Committee is a space where parents/guardians can share ideas, ask questions, and discuss anything that matters to them, including:
- Your child’s safety, care, and overall well-being
- The centre’s licensing and compliance
- Programs and learning experiences offered
- The equipment and materials available to children
- Staffing, including team structure and qualifications
Meals
At My World of Learning, we believe that healthy bodies support healthy minds. Our meal program fully complies with the Nova Scotia Food and Nutrition Standards for Regulated Child Care Settings.
Our on-site cook prepares a lunch and two snack each day that align with the latest Canada’s Food Guide recommendations, focusing on whole, minimally processed foods. We practice responsive feeding, creating an unhurried and inclusive eating environment where children are encouraged to listen to their own hunger and fullness cues. From supporting breastfeeding families to accommodating special dietary considerations and allergies, we ensure every child is nourished in a safe and supportive space.
