About My World of Learning
My World of Learning is a non-profit organization administered by a volunteer Board of Directors. The centre was established in 1994 and moved to its current location at the Nova Scotia Community College campus in 2001.
The facility is licensed by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development and inspected regularly by Fire, Health and Early Childhood Development inspectors.
My World of Learning is located on the Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) – Truro Campus in the secure residence building, Davis Hall.
Hours of Operation
Monday to Friday: 7:00 am – 5:30 pm
My World of Learning Child Care Association’s philosophy is to offer a safe, nurturing, learning environment in which children can prepare for the years ahead. We believe children learn best through play. Play-based learning in such areas as active play, language development, and socialization is facilitated through teacher-planned and child-initiated age-appropriate activities. Our programs are developed to support emotional, cognitive, social and physical growth.
Through play, we encourage:
- emotional development – self-expression, exploration
- cognitive development – language skills, problem solving abilities
- social development – positive social interaction
- physical development – gross and fine motor activities

The caring, knowledgeable staff plans fun activities in the areas of math, art, circle, science, sensory, fine motor and gross motor that promote learning opportunities for the children. The programming promotes the children’s growth and development through play and theme-based activities.
Children have an opportunity to play in the spacious classrooms in areas like sand and water play, blocks, housekeeping, library and science. An average of two hours per day of outdoor time is spent in the large playground which features a bike track, large sandbox and playhouse. Field trips are planned based on themes and offer hands-on learning and exposure.
The day care provides a lunch and two snacks per day.
